Take advantage of the best holidays and enjoy a 4-day desert trip from Marrakech to Fes through the heart of the Middle Atlas and the Sahara Desert. Experience a camel trek to discover the golden dunes, spend a night under the stars in a Saharan Berber tent, and learn about the authentic nomadic lifestyle. Along the way, admire the beautiful landscapes of Ifran and Azrou, and meet the wild Barbary apes in the cedar forest before arriving in the imperial city of Fes.

Note: This tour is ideal for travelers flying into Marrakech and departing from Fes (or vice versa). While it can be done in 3 days, we highly recommend this 4-day itinerary to truly soak in the desert experience at a comfortable pace.

Tour Plan

Pick-up at 08:00 AM from your accommodation. We cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka Pass ( $2,260$ m) for stunning panoramic views. Explore the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou followed by lunch. We then head to El Kelaa M’gouna (the Rose Capital) and drive through the "Road of 1,000 Kasbahs" to reach the lush Dades Gorges for your overnight stay.

After breakfast, we walk through the towering Todra Gorges and the palm grove of Tinghir. We continue east to Erfoud, famous for fossilized black marble. In the afternoon, we reach the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Embark on a 1.5-hour camel ride to witness the sunset before arriving at your desert camp, complete with private shower and toilet facilities.

Wake up early for a spectacular Sahara sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, ride camels back to the village to meet your driver. Today is dedicated to exploring the desert wonders: visit nomadic families to learn about their resilience, experience traditional music in the Gnaoua village (Khamlia), and enjoy free time for sandboarding or relaxing by the hotel pool. Overnight at a hotel in Merzouga.

Depart toward Fes, stopping at the Ziz Valley for panoramic views of the palm oases. We cross the Middle Atlas via the Tizi N’talghom Pass ( $1,907$ m) and stop for lunch in Midelt (the Apple Capital). In the afternoon, we visit the Azrou Cedar Forest to see Barbary apes and visit Ifran, known as the "Switzerland of Morocco." We arrive in Fes in the late afternoon for drop-off at your Riad or Hotel.
